Ce film est un reportage. Nous plongeons d'emblée au cœur d'Hollywood à l'apogée du cinéma muet. Une grande star, Jane Clark, est sur toutes les affiches de l'époque. Elle est révélée par le film incontournable du réalisateur Frank Liebermann, " Les mystères de NY ", qui chaque soir, attire la foule dans les salles de cinéma. Étrangement, Jane Clark disparaît de la scène, en pleine gloire, alors que le cinéma muet fait place au parlant. Cinquante ans plus tard, en 1979, à Sainte Croix sur mer, un petit village reculé de Bretagne, nous assistons à l'enterrement de Jan Hermann, un vieil immigré hollandais. Selon ses voisins, c'était un homme sans histoire, même si il parlait peu de son passé. Personne ne se doute alors que Jan emmène un secret avec lui dans la tombe. En mettant de l'ordre dans les affaires de son père, Daniel Hermann découvre une histoire inimaginable...
This film is a documentary. We dive into the golden years of silent movie in Hollywood. A big star, Jane Clark, is shown on every billboard. She makes her debut in a film made by Frank Liebermann, " the mysteries of NY', that attracts a crowd to the cinema every night. Mysteriously, Jane Clark disappears from the set, while she is in the glory days of her filming career and the sound pictures are introduced. Fifty years later, in 1979 in Saint-Croix-sur-mer, a little village in Normandie, we attend the funeral of Jan Hermann, an old Dutch immigrant. His neighbours say that he was a man without a past, even when he talked a little about his past. Nobody could imagine that Jan Hermann takes a secret with him to the grave. His son, Daniel Hermann, discovers, by sorting out his father's things, an unimaginable story.
